Artist Paul Day's first images of the centrepiece for the newly refursbished £800m St Pancras Station

The 20-tonne statue, which was unveiled at St Pancras station this week, cost £1m and was designed by the sculptor Paul Day. The 30ft bronze statue called "The Meeting Place" will stand directly beneath the station clock at the southern end of the new Eurostar terminus. The idea was to show the romantic nature of train travel. Originally the statue was to be of the couple kissing but London and Continental Railways thought the pose to be too risque.
