Atelier Kempe Thill (AKT) has recently won the European tender for a new smart grid research laboratory and education building for the Catholic University of Leuven at the campus in Genk-Waterschei.

The building is set-up as a generous and flexible structure based on C2C principles and will be developed as Flanders’ most sustainable building in terms of energy-use and CO2-reduction. The project will be realised together with de co-architects Osar from Antwerp. Paul van Bergen from DGMR, Arnhem will be the responsible advisor for building physics and sustainable building.
