Darned if I understand this building, Looks to me as though many of the seats have a portion of their sight line to the orchestra somewhat blocked. Another attempt at being "ICONIC" ?

Austrian firm wins competition to design €100m home for Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra

The renowned Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra is to receive a revolutionary new home in Warsaw designed by Atelier Thomas Pucher, following an international competition for the project. Due for completion in 2016, the 20,000 sq m cultural centre will fuse elements of tried and tested performance venue forms to create a space with 'world class acoustic properties'.

Located on a former Venterinary Institute, the new orchestral home will be comprised of a 1,800 seat symphonic hall, large rehearsal areas, merchandise facilities, musical workshops and a small hotel for visiting performers and guests to the venue.

Enveloping these facilities will be a floating wall, creating 'a distinctive place of silence – the basic principal for an orchestra to perform – full of atmosphere and drama'. Behind this wall structure will be a series of hidden rooms and stairs, a narrow surveillance path, all technical infrastructures and a span of 140m without any supporting columns.

The main symphonic hall is a rectangular room with free formed bands of balconies specifically angled to provide the best views to audience members. The three dimensional flow of the balconies and the specific relation to the rectangular volume allow the acoustic properties to be developed on a world class level. Short distances have been retained between the audience seats and the stage to ensure that each listener is able to become completely immersed in the music.
