Inspired by the traditional Lac Viet bird, the Peace Bird is completed in time for Hanoi's Millennium celebrations
The Peace Bird Gate at Peace Park in Hanoi has been designed by HighEnd Architecture to celebrate Hanoi's Millennium. Inaugurated by the Hanoi's People Committee for the celebration on 8th October, the structure resembles the traditional Vietnamese bird the Lac Viet bird and symbolises ‘a flying modern bird like the new modern and dynamic Vietnam'.
Hanoi has been recognised as a ‘City of Peace' by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), reflected in the central Peace Park and contemporary Peace Bird Gate by HighEnd Architecture. The structure has been positioned to welcome global travellers from Nobai International Airport, representing the entrance of a new ambitious urban area of Hanoi at West Lake.
A twist on the traditional origami Peace Crane form, the modern composition sits in a green public park - a breath of fresh air in a city as dense as Hanoi. HighEnd Architecture describes the completed Peace Bird Gate as: "a welcoming gate, a landmark; a modern and ancient icon of Vietnam and above all, a place for every kind of people."
