GS&P flying high after being selected for gateway to Embry Riddle Aeronautical Uni
Gresham, Smith and Partners (GS&P) has been selected to design the Jim Henderson Administration and Welcome Center at the entrance of the campus of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. The estimated 30,000 sq ft administration and welcome center building will serve as the gateway for university visitors and is planned to be completed by April 2012.
The new Administration and Welcome Center will be located on the site of a former Administration building that was destroyed by a tornado in 2006 and will help to transform the campus to make it more striking and efficient. Serving to educate current and potential student as well as the public about the world-class University, the multi-purpose building will house an interactive exhibit of ERAU's history and will serve as a meeting point for tours of ERAU grounds and facilities. Personnel offices, a lounge and communications center for visiting alumni will be housed within the facility and group spaces including an auditorium and ballroom will support space needs for large events and presentations.
"Embry-Riddle plays a significant role in the Daytona Beach community and we intend to design a welcome center that helps to exemplify the world-class and worldwide campus that is rooted here," Joe Thompson, principal, Gresham, Smith and Partners."This facility will support the student recruitment goals of the university as well as serve as a place to support and celebrate the achievements of the alumni."
The Administration and Welcome Center is one part of a five year, $130m update to the Embry-Riddle campus.
