Designed as symbol of the high speed service, Sudopak integrate waves into their design of Eskisehir station

In Eskisehir, a high speed train terminal is designed in accordance with the recently planned and partly established high speed train lines in Turkey.

Located in a mid-point between two major cities of Turkey, Eskisehir train terminal is currently the final stop of the built part of Ankara-Istanbul line. The Project is a high speed terminal, which is planned to meet the demand which cannot be met by existing facilities. The structure is situated in the heart of the city centre and connections with public transport lines have been established. In this 60,000 sq m environmentally-friendly terminal building, photovoltaic panels and heat-pumps are intergrated into the design. The entrance to the building in both directions is through pedestrian squares and next to the terminal; a 40,000 sq m surrounding park is also planned housing a cultural centre for local craftsmanship and a 30,000 sq m, five-star hotel with 400 rooms is also integrated into the terminal area.

The design principles are harmony and repetition. Harmony in this design is created by using similar objects which give the feeling that belong together. Repetition is achieved by echoed wave like shapes that also represent the speed and the dynamism of high speed train operation. In order to break the robustness of the structure, these wave like steel-frames are located with some variations, creating atriums within the structure.
