Lifschutz Davidson Sandilans wins planning permission for the Doon Street scheme
Currently, the Doon Street site (Site A) is devoted to temporary uses including car parking, a family & children’s centre and CSCB’s offices. The latter are transferring to the new Coin Street neighbourhood centre in September 2007. The scheme will have a much needed indoor swimming pool and leisure centre including an 8 lane 25m swimming pool and learner pool, a 120 piece gymnasium, two aerobics studios, a 4 court multi-purpose sports hall, changing village, café and crèche, a new head quarters and three dance studios for Rambert Dance Company, Britain’s leading contemporary dance company. Through Rambert’s strong education policy a comprehensive programme will be developed specifically for the local community, 329 flats housed in a residential courtyard and slender tower affording breathtaking views of the River Thames and the City, education/commercial offices and ground level shops and cafes.
