Louis Sicard's Garden of Captive Colours at Chaumont-sur-Loire

The international festival of garden and landscape design of Chaumont-sur-Loire, held once a year, is an opportunity for the participants to focus on what a landscape means. Last year, leading landscape designer of the Landscape Connection Office Louis Sicard, produced this intimate garden in an attempt to immerse the visitor into a dreamlike white universe.

The garden offers the visitor an experience of entering a cloud of mist whilst a variety of colours, smells and textures lead them from one part of the garden to another. This appears to be very typical of the work of the Landscape Connection, whose consideration of the relationship between architecture and landscape attempts to lead to a more sustainable way of designing. This garden not only offers an experience for all senses but intends to show up the artificial character of landscape.
