Nissen Adams bar-restaurant 'Liquorish' inhabits an extended shop space on Lordship Lane in London. There are three main spaces: a bar open to the street, a double height lounge and a dining area. A playful use of materials and theatrical lighting characterise the project: a negative image of a light-bulb is screen-printed and positioned behind a real light bulb; cast concrete floor planks appear at first glance to be timber. Light is a critical element of the project, the result of a collaboration with theatrical lighting designer Zerlina Hughes and central to the restrained informal atmosphere of the bar.
