Queens Park Residence celebrated as one of Australia's best wooden buildings

The dramatically re-worked planning of Queens Park Residence in Sydney, Australia has seen CplusC Design Construct win the presigious Australian Timber Design award for best renovation of a residential property.

Arranging space around the ordering elements of the entry hall and service corridor, the private spaces within the original house, consisting of the bedrooms with ensuite and study, are unified by a warm circulation path, distinctly articulated in timber, that branches into and connects the various spaces of the home.

An open plan living arrangement of the social spaces and garden to the rear of the home has been achieved. Emerging from the original house form, the study is also placed so as to establish a strong visual link with the pool beyond. Thus a sense of connection and spatial continuity is achieved through the device of the entry hall and the use of extensive louvre windows and large sliding doors.

The Tree of Knowledge memorial project by Brian Hooper Architect and m3architecture won both the Overall Winner Award and the Overall Best Northern Region Award.
