Woods Bagot completes world class centre for collaborative science

Woods Bagot is has designed the first new building in the Resources and Chemistry Precinct of Curtin University’s Bentley Campus in Perth Western Australia. The Precinct is designed to encourage cooperation between various academic, research and commercial bodies in the fields of chemistry and mineral resources and incorporates the existing CSIRO Minerals Facility (Woods Bagot has designed an extension to this building as well).

The new building will provide accommodation for Curtin’s Applied Chemistry department and for Chemistry Centre WA, the analytical laboratories of the Department of Industry and Resources. Building requirements are 6,800 sq m and 5,300 sq m respectively. The new building will offer a range of laboratories for teaching, research and analytical work. These spaces are designed to be modular and flexible so that they can be re-configured easily to suit future projects. Associated spaces to support the laboratories include offices, classrooms and stores.
