International business centre concept draws on the bible for inspiration
"Noah’s Ark is a symbol of revival, as a model of the world." It is with this understanding that young architects Vardanyan Vardan & Nersisyan Artur embarked on the concept of the mixed use project of the same name drawing on the Ark's proportions and shape in the design. Developed as a mixed use project the plans include an international business centre with an InterContinental Hotel complex and high end apartments in one site.
The form is of the ark, placed above a huge wave and being taken to mountain Ararat of which there are views from much of the building, say the architects. But most intriguing is that the ark has the very proportions as described in the Old Testament: the ark is 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, 30 cubits high and it has 3 decks. With an Egyptian imperial cubit at 52cm long the basic sizes of the ark are: length 157m, width 26m, height 15,6 m.
While the business centre, hotel and apartments are all in one building they have seperate entrances while an Atrium separates the hotel and office rooms. Meeting and event room capacities, Health and fitness centre capacities, restaurants, pubs and cafes however are shared and intersected to generate a cooperative space.
All high end rooms and apartments, the panoramic cafes and restaurants, the conference centre, fitness centre, gyms, outdoor and indoor swimming pools without exception face mountain Ararat. In Judeo-Christian tradition the mountain is associated with the "Mountains of Ararat" where according to the book of Genesis, Noah's ark came to rest.
