Light rail serves as catalyst for further redevelopment in New Jersey

FXFOWLE ARCHITECTS, working with BRW Inc. and Parsons Brinckerhoff Engineers, completed the development of the first of three operating segments of the Newark-Elizabeth Rail Link in downtown Newark, New Jersey. The first operating segment is comprised of 4 stations linking Penn Station, Newark, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, a new sports stadium and the Broad Street commuter rail station. Each station design reflects the unique characteristics of its immediate urban context, and includes canopies, seating areas, lighting and landscape elements, and art installations. The streetscape corridors between the stations are treated as design links and include new lighting, paving and landscaping.
