2009 was a tough year, but WAN were here to help...

In the most financially treacherous year of the past two and a half decades, WAN worked with the industry to offer as much help and advice as we possibly could to help your firms prosper through the recession - from advising of new project opportunities and identifying growth areas to celebrating achievements and hosting events to lead you in the right direction.

This year we developed our Tender Alerts service bringing you the latest project opportunities from around the globe. Our specialised Business Information team updated our subscribers on the latest tenders, competitions and awards and bringing reports straight to their desktops to help them stay 'in-the-know'.

With a successful House of the Year award already running, WAN rolled out our Awards programme to offer recognition to the best architecture across 6 categories from practices large and small. In our first year we have seen upwards of 600 entries, and so far 8 very happy winners and 30 successful shortlisters.

WAN ran several events this year including the Survive and Thrive event held in London. Held in collaboration with Atlas Industries, over 70 business managers and partners attended the briefing in November which included speakers on topics ranging from 'marketing' by Graham Hickson-Smith of 3D Reid, through 'bidding to win' by Philip Collard and 'PR' by Richard O’Neil of HLM, to 'reducing costs by outsourcing' by Alain Waha of Atlas Industries.

Throughout the year WAN had our finger on the pulse of news and delivered intelligent information about growth areas and emerging markets, straight from the horse's mouth. We all hope that the years ahead will prove less challenging, but whatever happens, WAN will be here to help.
