RMJM selected to design Vladivostok's gambling zone
RMJM has been successful in securing its third project in the Primorskiy region of Russia. Having already been awarded the commission to develop two luxury hotels in the region, RMJM recently secured the contract to develop a gambling zone near Cherepasje Ozero (Cape Turtle), one of Vladivostok’s most desirable destinations.
The gambling zone will be developed in three phases. Phase 1 will start with a five star hotel incorporating a ground level casino, immediately adjacent to the Cherapasje Ozero area. For visitors arriving by sea, the complex will include a luxury marina. Further developing the region’s attraction as a conference destination, Phase 1 will also incorporate a retail and exhibition centre, an aqua park and indoor ski centre. The valley to the west of the lake will be converted into a championship style golf course, with several luxury villas lining the north edge.
Phases 2 and 3 will further develop the area around the initial complex as well as land to the West. With a selection of three and four star hotels, the area will be a centre for retail and entertainment excellence.
Commenting on the exciting project, RMJM’s Russia and CIS Chairman, Dr Vladimir Kvint said: “Vladivostok is rapidly becoming a destination of choice for many international visitors. With major long term investment committed to the region, a project of this nature is a logical progression and we are delighted to have secured the design and masterplanning brief after a highly competitive tender.”
Governor of Primorskiy, Sergey Darkin added: “Following our appointment as host city for the 2012 APEC summit, Vladivostok and Primorskiy are fast becoming beacons for the new Russia. As a modern city and region, we were looking for a firm of architects that reflected this modernism and dynamism. RMJM was the logical choice and we are looking forward to seeing their designs take shape.”
