Fránek Architects completes a gymnasium in the Elementary School in Jaromerice

We can see the poetry in fine zoning of the building’s structure – in cladding without surface treatment; in translucency versus partial transparency as a functional expression (sun protection, balls protection); furthermore, in placing the building onto ground by means of bitumen socle as if it was possible to bring it further onwards or to replace it anytime. The village accepted our idea to let the building grow old naturally as well as our other ideas, and it is going to follow the gymnasium´ spirit in the construction of the elementary school whose square will be a new municipal democratic space. The building has one (main hall) up to two floors (hinterland) and it is not cellared. The vertical bearing structures are made of ceramic blocks with hidden reinforced-concrete piers. The single-pitched roof over the head part is supported by trussed girders with upper and lower flanges, forced diagonal braces of massive wooden profiles and tension diagonal braces of steel bars. The annexed building is covered with single-pitched roof; the ceiling structure over both floors consists of steel rolled beams and Hurdis clay filler blocks. The façade is clad with bent spruce boards. The door and window panels are glazed and provided with wooden frames or made of polycarbonate (partially bent) in steel frames.
