KEO’s KIA Headquarters Buildings looks to traditional culture rather than modern trends in Kuwait
The objective of the 76,300 sq m proposal was to design a state of the art headquarters building for the Kuwait Investment Authority which is functional, flexible, a pleasant working environment and an environmentally sustainable design.
The KEO design philosophy for the Kuwait Investment Authority Headquarters Building is based on traditional Islamic Architectural Principles and Ideas which must be celebrated when designing a building of this magnitude in Kuwait. Architect Raj Patel believes that there has been a recent influx of development in Kuwait which has a predominately western-style which has spread throughout the region. These buildings are beginning to demonstrate that they clearly belong to a culture and environment other than that which is found in the Middle East and the design of this project should reflect and celebrate the importance of tradition in terms of architectural and cultural values to Kuwait.
