The petrol station reconsidered for the contemporary consumer
The Romanian petrol group, Rompetrol launched its newly branded gas station at kilometer 139 on the Bucharest-Constanta Highway. The design by Eight Inc. brings a refreshed, contemporary experience to the traditional service station.
Eight Inc. created an architectural design that is light and welcoming to complement the company's new logo, designed by the brand consultancy, Saffron. Leveraging capabilities in architecture and industrial design, the Litro gas station is distinguished by several of its features: a thin protective canopy, color-shifting LED lighting, new-format pump stations, the use of light, reflective and streamlined materials, as well as a distinctive three-dimensional logo and pricing totem. The station is further differentiated by the unified illumination of the logo, totem and the underside of the canopy in different colours.
In addition to the distinctive architectural vocabulary of the new Litro identity, consideration was given to the environment. Modern equipment that reduces energy consumption, noxious emissions and fuel vapor emissions into the atmosphere, as well as a water-recycling computerized car wash together with unlimited wireless access clearly address the needs and concerns of Litro's customer.
What is significant about this design is the efficiency in materials. The streamlined profile reduces the amount of materials needed, is more environmentally-conscious, yet costs the same as a traditionally constructed service station.
