Vo Trong architects continue their bamboo crusade in Vietnam with a new cultural centre
Vietnamese based Vo Trong architects continue to enthusiastically promote the use of Bamboo as a sustainable, cheap and effective building resource, which can be used just as effectively as a structural entity as well as an aesthetic one. This project explores and tests the capabilities of the material and the Bird Wing cultural centre provides a large, columnless open plan interior space in which local communities can hold fashion shows, music and conferences. Inspired by nature xxx takes the form of a bird’s wings and floats over a natural site, located near Hanoi, Vietnam. This shape also encourages wind entry providing natural ventilation to the sustainable site.
