BSF schools recognised for design in Partnerships for Schools awards programme 

The UK Building Schools for the Future programme will see every state secondary school in England, around 3,500 in total, rebuilt or remodelled over its duration and the programme has ensured that school design has taken centre-stage in the UK architecture industry. The programme is run by Partnerships for Schools who are to hold an annual awards ceremony for BSF schools, the Excellence in BSF Awards 2009, at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 12 November. The awards feature 18 categories, including Best Design for a New School, Best design for a Remodelled School and Design Advisor of the Year. The shortlisted projects and architects in these categories are:

St Mary Magdalene Academy, Islington - Fielden Clegg Bradley Architects
Milton Keynes Academy, Milton Keynes - BDP
Big Wood School, Nottingham - Capita Architecture
Park Hall School, Solihull
Best Design for a Remodelled School

Best Design for a Remodelled School
Stoke Newington School, Hackney - Jestico and Whiles
Elm Court Special School, Lambeth - JM Architects
Hadden Park High School, Nottingham - Capita Architecture
Westminster City School, Westminster - Anshen and Allen
Design Advisor of the Year - the Jonathan Ibikunle award

Jestico + Whiles was also shortlisted in the Most Inspirational Use of Outside Space category for Stoke Newington School, Hackney BSF with Mouchel Babcock Education and PLACE Design and Planning as Landscape Architects. As were Soar Valley College, Leicester - Architects Design Partnership, Milton Keynes Academy, Milton Keynes - BDO and Washington School, Sunderland - Space Architecture.
