Child Graddon Lewis completes new staff facility for Transport for London
Transport for London’s new station and train crew accommodation designed by Child Graddon Lewis is marked as one of the ‘greenest’ schemes undertaken by TfL incorporating solar water heating, rainwater harvesting and a green roof.
Improvements to the Victoria line involving increased frequency of service have led to additional staff numbers with the new building providing administration, changing and rest facilities for train crew and station staff.
The development includes the fit out of existing space and two floors of new build accommodation dovetailed into a very tight urban site above the tube station in Brixton, South London.
TfL held a formal opening recently when the head of the Victoria Line, opened the building. As well as commenting on the high quality of the accommodation, TfL particularly praised the lightwell concept which brings much needed natural light deep into the building and the environmental initiatives advocated by Child Graddon Lewis.
