Broissin innovate in living design

Futuristic perceptions largely predicted the IKEA culture of modular life and the propensity towards using steel in design which are both common in living design today. They also predicted that people would live in self-sufficient pods. With Shelter 02, Broissin attempts to make this myth a reality within the prefab modular shell.

A housing Project for 3 persons of any socio-economic level, Broissin claims, the shelter is expansible by means of the addition of modules, and is also ecologically friendly, being made with products comprised 90% recycled material. The pod was first built in 2008 as an exhibition thanks to USG Mexico. More recently, in late summer of this year Hacienda la Concepción at Tepotzotlán México has granted Shelter 02 space as an outdoor exhibition, again bringing it to the fore of our conscious.

Impressively, the unit is developed in three levels; the lower floor, with the access and hydroponia areas; the middle level with the public area: kitchen, reading, living and bath rooms; and on the second level, the private area with two open bedrooms, study and closet.

"The shelter could become another option for developing low cost housing with very short building time and could improve the quality of the life for people without access to decent housing," say the architects.
