Interior design by tpbennett
The interiors division of tp bennett was commissioned to design a new headquarters for the Medical Devices and Diagnostics division of Johnson & Johnson in Pinewood. The project involved relocating 500 existing staff from offices in Bracknell and Ascot to a new 120,000 sq ft building within a mature woodland site.
Arranged over 3 floors, the main reception area creates an improved and united face for the company. Crisp and fresh materials including coloured glass, corian and timber are used in the reception area to create a strong and welcoming space whilst stone floor tiles are laid throughout the ground floor link facilities and areas together.
The main office floors offer fully open plan flexible working environments supported by meeting rooms, breakout areas and resource zones that encourage interaction and collaboration. A circulation cloister around a landscaped internal courtyard visually connects the floors together. A restaurant and coffee bar that lead out to an external decking area are available throughout the day and a gym provides a healthy lifestyle option.
In addition to the main office areas, the project included the UK's first Vision Care Institute, providing training for eye care professionals in a state-of-the art interactive learning environment. The 6,450 sq ft facility has a dedicated reception, 40 person auditorium with media wall, interactive voting facilities and AV connectivity to the examination rooms.
The project's sustainable measures include FSC approved timber, provision of cyclist facilities and parking bays and a herb garden for use in the restaurant. An on-site composting and waste management system will be introduced shortly.
