Iconic Turnberry golf resort is restored to its former glory in time for the open championship.
Architects 3DReid working with Fox Linton Associates have completed the refurbishment of the iconic Turnberry hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland. The restoration has been completed on behalf of owners Leisurecorp, who have invested close to £40m into the project.
The works on the listed building encompassed restoration of the ground floor public areas, more than 40 ocean-view bedrooms, 4 ocean-view suites, the external elevations & roofs, and the main entrance courtyard which was completed in time for this year’s Open Championship 2009, staged on the historic resort’s renowned Ailsa course from July 16-19.
3DReid were responsible for progressing and finalising the client’s design brief and masterplan, working with PDA Heritage Consultants in achieving planning & listed building consents.
Project Leader at 3DReid Mark Bruce said: “It has been a great privilege to be involved in the reinvigoration of such an iconic building. We are immensely proud of the transformation and of all of the efforts that have been taken by the design & construction teams to revitalise this historic building back to its former grandeur.”
