China's tallest building to have innovative, environmentally efficient design

Wilkinson Eyre have won an international competition to design a 432m tower in Guangzhou which will become China’s tallest building. With 110 storeys, the tower has a mixture of uses including office space, a luxury hotel and a top floor sightseeing area. At ground level, the tower will have links to a second, similar structure proposed for the neighbouring site. The triangular plan of the towers responds to the need for efficient internal space layouts and excellent environmental performance. The project will start on site before the end of 2005, forming part of the city’s regeneration ahead of the 2010 Asia Games.
