Barr Gazetas Architects and Whitelaw Turkington (landscape) new contemporary public space for London is set to open at Grenwich Peninsula

Equivalent in size to Leicester Square, Peninsula Square is designed to be a new leisure destination for Londoners and tourists alike. Geysers set in the square will bubble and mist and then create plumes up to 10 metres high, with vibrant lighting accentuating the square’s exciting architecture by day and by night. There will be cafes, restaurants and shops as well as a venue for special events. The Square is part of the £5 billion, 15 year regeneration of Greenwich Peninsula. The regeneration will see around 10,000 new homes and 24,000 long-term job opportunities within a central business district. Upon completion 25,000 people will be living in Greenwich Peninsula and 24,000 people will be working there. as well as featuring 150 new shops and restaurants covering 360,000 ft² of retail provision. Pedestrians and cyclists will have priority over the car and a relaxing, safe environment will be promoted. The scheme was created by Lend Lease and Quintain Estates, together with English Partnerships.
