DADA and Partners wins International Urban Design Competition for SPA Campus in Delhi
DADA and Partners, a multi-disciplinary design practice based in Gurgaon, India has been awarded first prize for its competition entry for a prestigious campus master plan.
School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi – the premier design institute of India - held an International Urban Design Competition to obtain a comprehensive urban design strategy for its new 20 acre campus property. The picturesque site is situated along a ridge preserve that runs through the capital city. There were over 130 entries, primarily from all over India, and the jury was headed by Charles Correa, the first Chairman of the National Committee on Urbanisation.
The campus master plan is hinged on three broad principles: Ecological sensitivity towards the site, connection with the city and beyond, and creating holistic learning environment. The master plan sought to go beyond the conventional campus paradigms that often tend to create insular learning environments: A natural tranquil setting uncorrupted by the city. The new SPA campus, by necessity, shall be integrated with the city. The city shall be its laboratory for learning and innovation.
