Mahindra builds upon 'World City' concept to spread across India

Mahindra World City is a business city design concept, created by the US$ 6.7 billion Mahindra Group Indian industrial house. Rolling out across India, the concept is designed on a work-live-learn-play format, each city is divided into zones for business and lifestyle.

The Business Zone provides modern working spaces with state-of-the-art plug-n-play infrastructure. The zone typically comprises of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) or Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) for companies looking at catering to the global markets primarily through exports and a Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) for companies targeting the domestic market.

The Lifestyle Zone, located in close proximity to the Business Zone, offers residential units, schools, medical centers, retail malls, business hotels, recreation and leisure facilities amidst wide open green spaces and a clean, healthy environment.

Two Mahindra World City complexes are already complete in Chennai and Jaipur with complexes in Pune and Thane (near Mumbai) in development. The scheme has this week been highlighted as one of 16 worldwide projects to receive support from the Clinton Climate Initiative in the Climate Positive Development Program.
