Revised plans for Frank Gehry’s controversial new development on the UK’s south coast were revealed today after a crucial vote in favour by Brighton and Hove City Council. An application for detailed planning approval will now be submitted by developer Karis.
The scheme has been ‘toned down’ from the original competition winning design after local opposition. The two main towers have been reduced in height but the new leisure centre now sports a colourful roof. The project includes 474 private flats, 280 affordable units and an HOK swimming complex. If planning consent is given the project could start in 2007
