The Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) has completed the major construction work required for the new Thameslink ‘box’ beneath St Pancras station in London. The box forms the shell for a new station which will ultimately replace King’s Cross Thameslink station. It is large enough to accommodate a twin-platform station that will allow passengers direct access to the refurbished St Pancras International Station. Shown here is the new extension to the original Barlow shed which will house the new Eurostar trains. St Pancras will become London’s new transport hub linking the North of the UK with Europe and the underground network. It is scheduled to open in 2007.
