Avanti Architects receive planning consent to regenerate and redevelop a shopping precinct in London
Avanti Architects have just received planning consent to regenerate and redevelop a 1960s shopping precinct in Kilburn, north London for Sandpiper Securities.
The site lies along Kilburn High Road and connects this busy artery with quieter residential areas which are gathered around a medium sized landscaped urban square to the west of site. The brief called for regeneration of the existing retail units, creation of additional retail floor area, improvement and reconfiguration of an existing street traders’ market, substantial improvements to the public realm and the development of 14 new residential units and a comprehensive refurbishment of 9 existing maisonettes for the private market. Following extensive consultation with neighbouring residents and retail operators the scheme was presented for planning and secured consent on 31st May 2007.
