Largest private - sector outpatient clinic in Bangkok completes
dwp took on the interior design for the Bumrungrad International Clinic project, a multi-storey outpatient clinic, the largest in Bangkok which has now completed.
A primary design consideration for this project was to enhance a sense of destination for wellness services and create an ambience consistent with the client’s vision for a hospitality approach to wellness services. In facilitating this the architects created lobby and waiting spaces that are physically comfortable and visually warm and inviting, with generous lounge style seating and facilities.
The interior design maintains a sense of intimacy to individual areas for patient comfort within context of the larger building and overall scheme. Graphic design and signage, incorporating digital media for flexibility, reinforces clear and efficient way-finding for patients and visitors. The client’s requirements emphasized the importance of Education Centers, which are positioned prominently off lobbies to be open and easily accessible. Information for client services is made readily accessible, including online access points.
All spaces are designed to support a healthy workplace environment. Natural light is maximized, sightlines and views are well considered, general flooring is provided with cushioned backing, staff circulation is efficient minimizing travel distances in sometimes complex workflows. The clinic floors typical layout allows for secondary staff circulation across the floor. Nurse stations feature a prototyped embedded monitor design to help keep open and uncluttered, dedicated storage solutions.
The overall scheme assists in a change of healthcare focus, from a limited perception of caring for the unwell, to being a destination supporting overall wellbeing and lifestyle. The campus integration streetscape upgrade addresses accessibility issues and reinforces the Bumrungrad International site as an overall healthcare destination.
