BDP unveil Aintree’s new grandstands at this year’s Grand National.
Along with the Stands, the redevelopment included the parade ring, weighing room, equine areas and media suite at the famous grounds.
Re-organisation of the site now places the stables, new pre-parade ring and landscaped main parade ring in a logical sequence providing safety for the horses and jockeys and the public while enhancing the sense of theatre created by the colors of horse racing events. The main vertical circulation and services to the grandstands are housed in timber clad cores which link the new grandstands with the glazed ‘saddle’ bar which provides hospitality as well as being a bridge over the main horse walk out to the racecourse.
The new tensile-fabric roofed winner’s enclosure is located at the south end of the parade ring where the maximum number of spectators can view and greet the winning horses. The unveiling marks the final phase of the comprehensive redevelopment
