tvsdesign Atlanta Office receives Silver LEED-CI Certification
The new tvsdesign Atlanta office has received a Silver rating under the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) standard. The renovation breathes new life into the office with its open floor plan and maximized daylighting. Open social areas, such as the Heart and Hub, encourage activity within the office and allow a transparency to both employees and guests.
To achieve LEED-CI certification more than 87% of the demolition and construction waste was diverted from entering a landfill. In addition architectural samples and miscellaneous furniture items were donated to local architectural and design schools for reuse. Throughout the entire process more than 340 tons of waste was diverted from being in a landfill. Other sustainable strategies include:
Natural resources were preserved through the use of local, recycled, and rapidly renewable materials
The environment optimizes the occupant’s well-being by maximizing daylight and views, in addition to the monitoring of thermal comfort. In total, more than 90% of the office has access to unobstructed views of the outside
100% of the energy used throughout the two-year construction project was offset through the purchase of renewable energy
Materials and finishes were specified with low or no VOCs
Potable water use was reduced by over 32%
Alternative transportation in close proximity to the office, in addition to bike racks, showers and an office fitness facility has resulted in 21% of employees not driving their car into work every day and an increase in overall employee health
New equipment and appliances were purchased for their EnergyStar rating
