Very retro!
Americans really associate status with old things, don't they?

Exclusive first look at Robert Stern's The Brompton as it nears completion

The Brompton, a new 22-storey luxury condominium project located in New York City’s toney Upper East Side neighborhood is nearing completion. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects for the developer Related, the project takes its name and styling from Brompton Cross, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in London.

These exclusive external images show that The Brompton’s architecture is Gothic-inspired. The corner location allows the building to dominate its surroundings whilst maintaining the New York trend of integrating a building effectively within its historic surroundings.

Its red brick and limestone façade provides the framework for generously proportioned layouts and richly detailed interiors, due to complete in May. Visitors will be welcomed through an arched entryway featuring cherry wood paneling and marble floors that continue through two landscaped courtyards. The residences, which range from studios to five bedroom units, feature elegantly designed kitchens with modern appointments including maple cabinetry, quartzite countertops and tile backsplashes, Viking wall ovens, Sub-Zero refrigerators and Miele dishwashers. Completing the units are spa-like baths with marble flooring, wood vanities and six-foot soaking tubs.

The building’s amenities include an Equinox fitness club, a lounge with adjacent outdoor garden, a children’s playroom, and landscaped terrace completing Stern's luxurious residence.
