RMA Associates techno-campus completes in Bangalore
The organization of the site is based on zoning the various proposed functions in a manner that the visual impact of the new buildings is minimal on the campus. In order to achieve this, the existing curtain of trees along an existing storm water channel is used to an advantage by placing a majority of buildings behind this. Along the trees is a spine – a movement zone containing staircases, elevators and major conference rooms. The spine is anchored on two ends by the Employees Facility Center, which contains the Food Courts, Gymnasium, ATMs, and Internet Stations.
Attached like plug-ons to the spine, are five Software Blocks. These are clearly articulated as two separate blocks, one housing the Software and Call Centre functions, and the other housing the Services. In their architectural expressions, they are ‘containers’ for working and housing the support services – and are articulated as machines for these functions. This is in contrast to the transparency and the rich textures along with the architectural articulation that characterize the spine – where the enhancement of sensory experiences is emphasized. This experience of the spine extends itself, into the Food Courts where water, landscape and the architectural form coalesce together to create a complete counter point to the experience of confinement in the workstation areas.
