Valladolid Masterplan wins AR Future Project Award
By redefining the urban grain of a city divided by a rail corridor and the local river, six new neighbourhoods totalling 98ha will be established in freed-up spaces. A spine of public parks will mean the gradual greening of the entire city centre can take place. An imminent high-speed city centre rail interchange will provide links within the city. The jury admired the focus of the design by RSHP with Vidal y Asociados Arquitectos, brought to bear on a generic urban problem – the splitting of a town by natural and man-made barriers. The masterplan provides layers of connection and amenities which transform the city.
