Hungarian house ready to weather the floods
Wild Duck House, located north of Szentendre on the bank of the Danube, was commissioned to allow for the expansion and contraction of an extended family. Various structures can be modified to provide additional accommodation as the family grows or dismantled should family members choose to flee the nest.
Details are directly rationalised in an attempt to reduce environmental impact and express the playful flexibility of elements. This in turn is complemented by use of massive construction to the northern aspect and delicate detailing to the south. Many of the materials used being reclaimed industrial waste.
A once notorious flood plain site has been transformed through the innovative designs of Inke Ivány, for an architect client, into a progressive and happy family home come boathouse.
