New facility in Cedar Grove advances patient care by design
This new 151,000 sq ft facility embraces a “Matrix Model” of patient care that has at its foundation the principle of community re-entry through the creation of a normalizing environment. The hospital is organized around the concept of a healing village—a series of multi-story buildings with specific functions for patient care. At the core of this village is a central outdoor courtyard and metaphorical “community green”—the heart and soul of this new facility. Patients, families, visitors and staff have unrestricted access to this secure, outdoor space for social, recreational and educational uses. Enclosing the green is the primary circulation zone that serves as an indoor social rehabilitation mall
