A new primary care health centre with birthing facilities has opened.
The Barkantine include the provision of GP facilities, transitional primary care, birthing, dental and community services, pharmacy and café. One of the first in the country to gain Forestry Stewardship Council certification for using timber from well-managed sources, other sustainable features include recycled materials including asphalt and concrete. the media have named it the 'birthing hotel'.
