BKK's new house draws the line
On an elevated site set amongst native bushland with rolling views to the north, the Wall House withholds the view upon approach, presenting a mute block wall embedded into the site. The wall forms a protective courtyard space with the existing topography, continuing BKK’s interest in the relationship between building and landscape through a type of embedded occupation. The house further explores their interest in the way in which a drawn line becomes a wall that acts to claim space or mark territory. Internally spaces are organised and anchored from the wall which unfolds as one moves through the house. A compressed entry opens out to reveal panoramic views of mountains to the north.
