London’s WATG designs first five-star hotel in Istria, Croatia
Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) has unveiled the designs for the Hotel Monte Mulini in Rovinj, a historic coastal city on the Istrian peninsula of Croatia on the Adriatic coast. WATG who specialize in hospitality and leisure won the competition for the project and is the first international architect to do work in the region.
The hotel will feature 120 rooms including 19 luxury suites, designed in a sophisticated and contemporary style. Since the hotel will be open year-round, the design will incorporate both summer and winter seasonal elements.
Sustainable design features include the use of overhangs for solar shading and the specification of natural building materials including local stone.
Work is scheduled for September 2007, and the hotel is slated to open in June of 2008
