Mixed-use that implies vernacular architecture in a global manner
After one year of work the design for City View Tower is revealed by 98° architectural studio. A.R. Holdings Limited, the developer of the project, purchased the land at Sagun Bagicha near Bangladesh Liberation War Museum and Bangladesh Reporters Union - a prime location in the Dhaka city - to build a mixed-use complex which should facilitate office space and apartment blocks.
Bangladesh, being a newly developing country, is going under comprehensive construction work. The demand for accommodation for dense population initiates new residential apartment. Such sequence made A.R. Holdings to go for this mixed-use building.
Oli Mahmud, the principal architect of the office, illustrates this 15 storey mixed-use development as a contemporary living environment with a minimalist design approach where a vernacular design concept is adapted in a modern manner. Distinction of functional expression is deliberately maintained in this design to solve the conventional identity conflict of mixed-use building. Aluminum louver is used at the western façade, to reduce solar radiation and allow a cool breeze. Vertical landscaping is introduced at different levels to humanize rigid urban living.
Construction of the project is going to begin very shortly and will be completed in 2010.
