First images of Portzamparc's Granite Tower offices in La Défense, Paris

Christian de Portzamparc commenced the design for this 180m tall office block in 2001. Designed for Groupe Société Générale it now accompanies the Société Générale twin towers to provide extra breathing space for the expanding offices.

Forming the head of this triangle of towers the Granite Tower (Tour Granite) covers 70,000 sq m and forms a prismatic shape to make best use of the footprint space.

La Défense is a cosmopolitan business area to the west side of Paris. Out of 72 office buildings in the 3.5 million sq m area Granite Tower is the fourth tallest but Portzamparc’s studies into optimizing the effectiveness of space mean that the design limits intrusion on views to the other towers.
