Volgopark Center mixed-use complex designed to bring life back to south Volgograd
Designed by Oncuoglu Architecture the planned Volgopark Centre in southern Volgograd, Russia, originates from the need to integrate the city with the surrounding nature. The project is designed as a building complex around a “Promenade” which forms the spine of the project. Making the most of the natural surroundings the development is situated at the intersection of Volga River and Volgo-Don Canal and the master plan is developed by planning different functions and elements along a continuous axis as a promenade.
A balanced design of building, landscape and water is intended to create a new identity for the city. Being located at the Krasnoarmayskiy District at the south of Volgograd, the project is intended to become the new public space and attraction center for the residents of Volgograd.
Volgopark Center is composed: Volgopark Promenade; Volgomall- Shopping Center; Volgopark Tower- High-rise residences Volgopark Plaza- Offices and retail units; Volgopark Sports Hall- Sports Center.
Volgomall is designed with the concept “shopping as museum and exhibition space”. The complexity of urban space is interpreted in the interior space and exterior configuration of the building form as an expression of the urban space. The tectonic design of the building connects existing landscape with the new design by creating a social center.
The main residential building, Volgopark Tower, is planned as a high-rise integration of two blocks. Here too nature is the resonating factor as the location of the building is organized by considering the settlement pattern of surrounding sun light. The building is mainly composed of housing units accompanied with retail units at the first floor.
Volgopark Plaza is designed as an office building composed of five floors; car parking on the basement floor, retail units on the first floor and office units located on the upper floors.
