Archer Architects & Great Portland Estates celebrate 60 GPS success
This project saw the remodelling of almost an entire city block within a historic conservation area in central London, a short walk from Oxford Circus.
Many of the offices in th 60,000 sq ft block were pre-let before completion, the location adding to the poularity. The development sits on a prominent corner and is seen from several long views in the area. The transition around the corner is articulated through an expressed pavilion, which floats above the pavement. This is further emphasised by cladding all the structural columns at ground level in mirror.
Archer Architects sought to add a strong, calm, yet distinctive ensemble to the frenetic townscape in this part of central London.
