Luxury seafront apartments await planning permission
Milieu Architects has submited plans to Southend Council for the eight-storey block, containing 21 three-bedroom flats and a swimming pool.
The proposal is replacing more downmarket properties in the area that otherwise would need extensive renovation. A former hotel, now divided into flats, and a house would have to be demolished to make way for the block.
The plans represent the next step in continuous regeneration delivering new attractive streetscape as a process of economic growth and stressing the prominence of the seafronts role in attraction.
Architect Peter Lunter of MILIEU Architects said: “The idea of the apartments is modern building in a reference to art deco style. This style was very prominent in Southend in the past and represents the times of burgeoning seafront live.”
Ward councillor, Ian Robertson, has called for the plans to be examined at the next planning committee meeting in August.
