Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands explores the theme with steel sculpture at the LFA
Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands made a dramatic showing for the event along Exhibition Road for the London Festival of Architecture.
The sculpture was installed in the early hours on the day of the event, (21 June) along Exhibition Road in London. Composed of two large sheets of perforated and polished stainless steel, the dynamic form is generated by a structure of tension cables which hold the form together to create a fluid space.
The sculpture explores notions of disconnection and connectivity and has been designed in response to the segregation of areas between Chiswick / Hammersmith and the River Thames created by the introduction of the Great West Road (A4 motorway) in 1962.
Staff from Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands were on hand throughout the day to discuss the sculpture with the public, after which the sculpture was transported and re-installed at Island Studios; home of Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.
