NORD Architects-designed urban hospice now under construction in Copenhagen
“By considering the needs of the users, client, and neighbours, Urban Hospice sets a new standard on how you can build innovative healthcare projects in urban contexts,” explains Morten Rask Gregersen, Partner at NORD Architects Copenhagen. The firm is currently watching its 2,233 sq m Urban Hospice scheme take shape in Copenhagen’s Frederiksberg district. This 16-bed facility has been slotted into a challenging built-up site to replace an existing hospice and provide a ‘warm and protecting’ healthcare centre for the deaconess community. NORD Architects has designed the hospice with the approach that the right architecture can have a positive effect on palliative patients. This concept has been successfully brought to the fore by Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, an international organisation that highlights architecture’s role in the healthcare
