Minister confirms that hospital numbers will multiply in Saudi Arabia
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Health Minister for Saudi Arabia, has announced that 33 new hospitals will be completed in the Kingdom over the next two years. Local information source Arab News quoted the Minister as saying: “At present the Health Ministry is implementing 195 projects such as health towers, specialised hospitals and health centres.”
The news comes as the Minister and his team were applauded by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abudullah for their diligent efforts to ensure that this year’s Haj was free of contagious diseases. 24 hospitals and 141 health centres were prepared to welcome the 3 million pilgrims that attended the Haj in 2011 with around 5,000 beds available to attend to those in direst need.
